Smash the cake: what the first-birthday session is like

A year has gone by and it's time to celebrate! At this age babies are curious and want to explore everything, and the cake is the best way to keep them on set. Some eat it, some don't, some get covered head to toe and some only try it with a spoon. It is always an original way to celebrate the first birthday.

The session takes about 1 hour, whatever the package. I start with the whole family, then just the baby, and the "smash the cake" comes last. The cake is included in every package.

It can be in the studio or outdoors, depending on your choice and the weather. In the studio I book a time that doesn't clash with nap time; outdoors, we start 1 hour before sunset for the best light of the day.

The studio has little outfits in several sizes you can use. For parents and siblings I suggest neutral tones, white or denim; for the baby's solo photos we choose the colours together.

Smash the cake packages start at €150, and you can add a balloon garland to any package for €50.
