Newborn photos in the Algarve: when to book (and why during pregnancy)
Newborn sessions happen in the baby's first two weeks. Here is why it pays to book during pregnancy and how the date works.
The question I hear most from expecting parents is: "when should I book the newborn session?". The short answer: now, while you are still pregnant.
Newborn sessions are best done in the baby's first two weeks of life. That is when babies are sleepiest and most "curl-up-able", which allows those snug poses everyone loves. Because that window is so short, waiting until after the birth is risky: the diary is often already full for those first days.
So I reserve your place for the due date. As most babies don't arrive on that day, you simply get in touch as soon as your baby is born and we agree the final date together.
Once you book, you receive a questionnaire so I can prepare the sets and props around what you have in mind. Before the session you also get an email with what to do beforehand, what to bring and where the studio is, in Ferreiras, Albufeira.
On the day, allow about 3 to 4 hours. The baby is in charge: I follow their rhythm, with breaks to feed, change and settle. I worked as a nurse for several years before turning to photography, and calm and care for the baby always come first.
If you would also like bump photos, booking the maternity and newborn sessions together gives you €50 off the total. Newborn packages start at €180.
If you are thinking of booking, write to me with your due date and I will reply with availability for those weeks.
